The Department has a reputation within industry and academia for producing highly trained, competent and professional chemical engineers. We offer students the choice from a range of MEng and BEng courses that are accredited by the Institution of Chemical Engineers as satisfying the educational requirements for Chartered Engineer (CEng) status. We also offer a BSc programme run in conjunction with the Business School. Three postgraduate MSc courses are also offered. We have a long history of teaching excellence. This was recognised by HEFCE in the last UK-wide Teaching Quality Assessment by the award of 22 points out of a maximum possible score of 24. Our students also rate us highly - we have been placed first out of all UK Chemical Engineering departments in the National Student Surveys since 2005. The Department has strong links with industry in the UK and overseas. Most of our undergraduate students add value to their studies through our structured industrial placement scheme, gaining vital professional experience and enhancing their employment prospects. Research in the Department is organised into three multidisciplinary areas: Advanced Separation Technologies, Product Enabling Technologies and Pharmaceutical Engineering. In each of these we work closely with industry and with researchers in universities worldwide. If you have any questions or require additional information, please feel free to contact the Department directly; we will be happy to help you. Professor Chris Rielly |
