Prospective Postgraduate Students

We are recognised as one of the UK’s leading centres for historical research and postgraduate training. We were awarded a top ranking 5 in the last two Research Assessment Exercises and anticipate a similarly strong performance in the next (results due December 2008).

Blessed with excellent libraries and local archives and in easy access of London, the Midlands, the north of England and Scotland, Leeds is an ideal location to take a Taught Masters Degree (MA) or Research Degree (PhD, MA, MPhil).

We have over 80 postgraduates and the diversity of our research postgraduate students' interests reflects the extensive thematic, geographical and chronological coverage we provide.

Explore our centres and research groups for further insight into the richness of the research culture and interdisciplinary opportunities available to you here.

We have strong links with White Rose initiatives (with the Universities of York and Sheffield), with the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC)-funded History Postgraduate network in Yorkshire, and with the World University Network (WUN).
