MSc Studentships 2008

The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine is pleased to call for applications for one full (fees and stipend - for the MSc Medical Statistics only) and five fees-only studentships for the following internationally renowned courses (for UK residents and EU Nationals only):

MSc Demography & Health

This course offers a broad training in the theories and methods of demography and the population sciences and their application to health, social welfare and economic development. Applicants must have an Upper Second Class Honours degree from a recognised university, or a degree in medicine.

Graduates pursue careers in academic or health-related research, public health, reproductive health and work with NGOs, UN/government statistical offices and a wide range of public and private sector bodies.

MSc Epidemiology

This course aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills to make valuable contributions to both epidemiological research and public health. Applicants should have good numeracy skills and an Upper Second Class Honours degree of a recognised university in science or related subject, or a degree in medicine.

Graduates enter careers in medical research, public health and community medicine, epidemiological field studies, drug manufacturers, government or NGOs.

MSc Medical Statistics

This course provides training in the theory and practice of statistics with special reference to clinical trials, epidemiology and clinical or laboratory research. Applicants should have an Upper Second Class Honours degree of a recognised university in science, or a related subject, or a degree in medicine. Applicants without a mathematically-based first degree must have strong quantitative skills and some familiarity with statistical ideas.

Graduates pursue careers in various sectors including higher education, research institutions, the pharmaceutical industry, central government and national health services.

Eligibility

UK residents and EU Nationals are eligible. All eligible applicants will be automatically considered. Early applications are encouraged.

Those interested in being considered for an MRC MSc Studentship should make an application for study to the School. There is no other application form for this studentship at this stage. All eligible applicants will be considered automatically.
