Research students at Christ Church are able to enjoy a warm and stimulating research community, with a high level of academic and pastoral support, which transcends disciplinary boundaries. High priority is given to their academic and welfare interests. There is a two-fold support system which operates both from within individual academic departments and faculties, and from within the Graduate School. The Graduate School provides:
- two study rooms exclusively for the use of research students, equipped with full IT facilities and 24 hour secure access
- an interdisciplinary Research Training Programme
- information regarding external funding opportunities
- membership to the Postgraduate Research Association
The Post Graduate Research Association organises an annual conference for all research students. This provides an excellent opportunity for students both to learn about each other's research and to practice their conference skills in preparation for academic life.

Support for research degree supervisors
The Graduate School provides a programme of supervisor development events which address issues connected with the nature of research degrees, selecting the right people as research degree candidates, helping student to structure their study, and roles and relationships in supervision and the viva.
We also run an annual Supervisor Conference. The overall aim of these events is to provide occasions in which supervisors can share experience and ideas within a discursive, interdisciplinary environment.
Information for research students and supervisors
The Graduate School communicates with research students and supervisors by means of two Blackboard sites. All registered research students can gain access to the PGRA Blackboard which contains details of seminars, important announcements about the programme and other events. All supervisors can gain access to the Research Supervisors Blackboard, which contains announcements and documentation regarding the programme.
Information about the gaining access to these sites is available on the main Blackboard homepage
Handbooks and Codes of Practice
Each year we update our Handbooks and Codes of Practice for MPhil and PhD, and for EdD Students and Supervisors, which contain the programme regulations and full details of all aspects of the programme.
