How Do I Apply?
Application Procedure
Taught Masters (MRes/MSc)
If you wish to apply to one of our Taught Masters then you may apply online please follow the on-screen instructions. Alternatively you can contact our postgraduate admissions team for a hard copy of the application form.
Please note that if you apply online please select the relevant department rather than the Lancaster Environment Centre (LEC) when asked ‘In which department at the University do you intend to study?’ as the courses are listed under the departments and not LEC.
Along with the completed application form, you should send any transcripts and certificates of your first degree and any relevant courses that you have completed. If you have not yet finished your undergraduate degree please enclose a transcript of the modules you have studied to date.
International students should also enclose copies of any English language test results and an English translation of degree transcripts and certificates.
Completed applications should be sent to the Postgraduate Admissions Office.
Applications can be made at anytime of the year. If you wish to apply for funding please consult our funding information for application deadlines.
Masters by Research (MSc-R) and PhD
If you wish to apply to one of our Masters by Research or a PhD then you may apply online please follow the on-screen instructions. Alternatively you can contact our postgraduate admissions team for a hard copy of the application form.
Please note that if you apply online please select the relevant department rather than the Lancaster Environment Centre (LEC) when asked ‘In which department at the University do you intend to study?’ as the courses are listed under the departments and not LEC.
Along with the completed application form, you should enclose a copy of your CV and your suggested research topic (please submit a full research proposal if you have one, if not please submit a personal statement detailing your research expertise and experience, area(s) of research interest and other relevant information). If you are applying to an advertised PhD please explain how your skills and /or experience would be of use in the PhD you are applying for.
You should also send any transcripts and certificates of your first degree and masters (if applicable) and any relevant courses that you have completed. If you have not yet finished your undergraduate or masters degree please enclose a transcript of the modules you have studied to date.
