Arthritis Research Campaign

Subjects:

The Arthritis Research Campaign is pleased to offer funding opportunities to allied health professionals who are, or are eligible to be, registered with the Health Professions Council (HPC), Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) or other appropriate regulatory body. Applicants must also have:

• at least 3 years’ relevant post-registration work experience
• at least 1 year’s experience in rheumatology/arthritis
• a primary future professional commitment to rheumatology/arthritis
• support of the head of department
• evidence to support proposed attendance at meeting, training course or visit

ALLIED HEALTH PROFESSIONALS EDUCATIONAL TRAINING BURSARIES

Funding is offered towards the costs of attending either:

1. A short training/diploma course or modules from a taught MSc programme in the UK with a clear rheumatological content. Examples are the Keele ASPiRE course and Brighton GCRP course. The maximum amount available is £1,000 and application deadlines for this funding are twice a year in the middle of January and July.

OR

2. A full MSc course or taught/professional doctorate in the UK with a clear rheumatological content. The maximum amount available is £5,000 and there is one deadline a year on 7th January. Applications will be assessed by the appropriate arc committee and candidates may be shortlisted for interview (in March).

ALLIED HEALTH PROFESSIONALS EDUCATIONAL TRAVEL AWARDS

These awards provide up to a maximum of £500 towards the cost of attending a national or international meeting, providing it has clear relevance to the aims and interests of arc, in order to present a paper or poster, chair a session or lead a discussion, OR up to a maximum of £2,000 towards the cost of visiting wards/units for the purpose of studying other methods of care of patients with arthritis and related musculoskeletal diseases.

Application deadlines are 3 times a year (April, July and September) and applications must be submitted at least 2 months in advance of the planned meeting or visit. Further information can be found at
