History Subject Area

History at Huddersfield received 5A in the last Research Assessment Exercise, was awarded the top grades for teaching by the QAA, and is the only history department to have been placed in the top four in the national student satisfaction surveys of 2005 and 2006. We have historians of high reputation researching in medieval, early modern and modern history. In the 2009 Guardian University Tables, we are 9th out of 90 History departments in the country for satisfaction with assessment and 12th of 90 for satisfaction with teaching. We offer an MA in History, both full time and part time, and a part-time MA in Oral History, from September 2008. We welcome applications for full- and part-time research degrees.
