Postgraduate Opportunities at Edge Hill University

Institution: Edge Hill University

Edge Hill University's Ormskirk Campus is a unique and amazing place to study. Covering 160 acres, the spacious, landscaped grounds combine original buildings and gardens from the 1930s with over £130m invested in the campus in the last decade and 25 acres of sporting leisure facilities.

Edge Hill is the UK’s largest provider of taught postgraduate programmes in the UK (HESA, 2009) with an impressive and expanding portfolio offering LLM, MSc, MA, PGCE, MCh, MBA and MPA awards. Most programmes are available on a full and part time or flexible basis. MPhil and PhD research degrees are also available.

A number of scholarships are also available for postgraduate students, including Entrance Scholarships, the Jesse Jackson Scholarship and the Rhiannon Evans Poetry Scholarship.
Study at postgraduate level covers the following subject areas:

Business and Law
The stunning £8m Business and Law building provides a contemporary, dynamic learning environment for students in the Business School and Department of Law and Criminology. There's a dedicated law library, modern seminar and meeting rooms, social learning areas, roof garden and atrium, and a 100-seater lecture theatre that doubles as a moot room, a mock-up of a courtroom.

Education
Edge Hill University is one of the leading providers of initial teacher training in the UK, successfully training the teachers of tomorrow for over 125 years. In a 2011 OfSTED inspection the Faculty of Education was rated as ‘outstanding’ across all its provision, including PGCEs at Early Years, Primary, Secondary and Post-Compulsory Education and Training.

English and History
The Department of English and History is an energetic community offering a diverse range of subjects. Students are encouraged to read critically, think innovatively, question, and, above all, reflect on their own academic and creative practices.

Health
The Faculty of Health is one of the main providers of education for healthcare professionals in Merseyside and the North West. Based in a £14m purpose-built centre of excellence, teaching and learning resources are student-focused and second to none. Leading edge clinical skills facilities include simulation suites and laboratories with industry standard equipment to give students as realistic a learning experience as possible.

Natural and Geographical Sciences
The Department of Natural, Geographical and Applied Sciences offers a friendly and supportive environment with a strong community spirit and excellent ICT and laboratory facilities. Recognising the increasing importance of an understanding of biodiversity and its management, the department offers an MSc in Conservation Management. The course places an emphasis on fieldwork, biological identification skills and experience of a broad range of management issues.

Performing Arts
The £5 million Centre for Performing Arts boasts a fully equipped scene dock, two theatres, three dance studios, four performance studios, three rehearsal rooms, and costume, props and scenic design workshops. Postgraduate study is facilitated through an MA in Making Performance, developing a detailed understanding of the cultural and social context of performance and its practice.

Social and Psychological Sciences
Social and Psychological Sciences is one of the largest and most innovative departments at Edge Hill University. Home to a thriving research culture, students enjoy an engaging and stimulating experience with access to cutting edge facilities.

Sport and Physical Activity
With over a third of the Ormskirk Campus given over to cutting edge sporting facilities, students enjoy access to a sports therapy clinic, specialist laboratories, sport and exercise rehabilitation centre and dance studio, complemented by the £4m Sporting Edge complex.
