The School of East Asian Studies

Institution: University of Sheffield

The School of East Asian Studies is one of the largest institutions in Europe teaching and researching on East Asia. In the 2009 National Student Survey SEAS was ranked by students first among UK Asian Studies departments for excellence in teaching. Our programmes attract a diverse, international community of students, and draw on our internationally-recognised expertise in the business cultures, international relations, political economy, society, and languages of China, Japan and Korea. With the University of Leeds, we host the White Rose East Asia Centre (www.wreac.org), which produces world class research and research training in Japanese and Chinese studies.
