Department of Geography

The Geography Department has a vibrant community of scholars in three research groups: Cities; Environment, Politics and Development; and Environmental Monitoring and Modelling. Interdiscoplinary groups also exist in the Hazards, Vulnerability and Risk Unit and in the area of Water Science, Management and Policy. Staff and PhD students are integral members of these groups and each group runs seminars and other events throughout the year. Research has a strong international focus, so that many staff have significant links with scholars throughout the world as well as in the UK. The Department currently has major projects funded by the AHRC, ESRC, NERC and DfID, in addition to many others.
