Institution: University of Huddersfield The School of Applied Sciences spans the disciplines of Chemical, Biological, Nutrition and Health, Transport and Logistics and Hospitality Management. It currently has about 1500 students, about 200 of whom are part-time. The Department of Chemical and Biological Sciences is regarded by its peers in academia and industry as one of the most active science departments in the new University sector. The Department traces its origins back to the turn of the century. There are currently about 40 students registered for PhDs. The research work is supported by a range of University, EPSRC, BBSRC, DTI and industrial grants. During the last 10 years about 70 PhD degrees have been awarded to our students.
