Institution: University of Southampton The School of Mathematics has one of the broadest communities of mathematicians in the UK, spanning pure and applied mathematics, statistics and operational research. All research groups are rated internationally excellent. The School is heavily involved in internationally recognised interdisciplinary research with collaborators in engineering, physical and biological sciences and social sciences. We host the largest general relativity group in Europe, the S3RI statistics research institute and CORMSIS, a research centre combining operational research, management science and computing. Our Graduate School has over 100 students following Masters courses in Statistics or Operational Research or studying for PhDs.
