MSc in International Conflict and Co-operation

This is an exciting course in the study of conflict, its prevention and resolution through a variety of teaching methods. The disciplines of political science, international relations and modern history information this course. It is taught in the evening (6.00 pm - 8.00 pm) in order to accommodate both full-time and part-time students. The aim of the programme is not simply to present a body of information required for a degree but to freely debate ideas and solutions to particular conflict situations that arouse the interests of students. It is a practical course, with opportunities to rehearse all the skills needed to conduct and report on conflict prevention, management and resolution.

Conflict and Co-operation in the Balkans
EU-Russian Relations
Conflict in Independent Africa
Middle East

Modules will typically be delivered by lecture and seminar.

The programme is designed to meet the needs of both current and future practitioners as well as those intending to further their knowledge on a specific subject by pursuing a research degree after the completion of their MSc. On completing the course, graduates may expect to find employment in organisations that are governmental (FCO, MoD and the respective ministries in other countries), inter-governmental (EU, NATO, UN, NAFTA, WTO) and non-governmental (Amnesty International, Red Cross, Human Rights Watch).
