Department of Physics

The Warwick University Physics department has a long-established international reputation for its research in the fields in the fields of Condensed Matter and Materials Physics, Medical Physics and Space & Astrophysics.
The Department was rated as an internationally-prominent (5A) department in the 2001 Research Assessment Exercise. Its research is supported by a range of funding bodies and with many collaborations worldwide.
Since 2001 it has almost doubled its size and research grant income, with currently over 100 research active academic staff, research assistants and technical support. The postgraduate student population (~90 currently) is projected to rise to ~130 in 2009, as a consequence of recent Research Council grant awards.
