The School of Humanities draws together research expertise across the following subjects areas: Classics and Ancient History, English Literature, History, Medieval Studies, and Theology and Religious Studies. The School offers a number of taught Master’s programmes and also research opportunities.

The School also houses a number of research Centres including: Buddhist Studies, Christianity and Culture, East Asian Studies, Colonial & Postcolonial Societies, Medieval Studies, Romantic Studies and the Institute of Greece, Rome and the Classical Tradition. All research is supported by BIRTHA (Bristol Institute for Research in the Humanities and Arts).
