Department of Music

The Music Department offers taught MA and research degrees.

The MA in Music has pathways in British music, Composition, Musicology, Music theory, Performance and Russian music.

The MA in Composition for Film and Television run in conjunction with the Drama Department, offers advanced training for media composers.

For research students, staff specialisms are diverse and include work in musicology (English and British music, film music, the English renaissance, continental European traditions, early medieval music) and composition.

The Centre for the History of Music in Britain, the Empire and the Commonwealth is also located in the department.
