Department of Archaeology and Anthropology

Bristol is home to Britain’s largest Graduate School in Archaeology and Anthropology and offers taught Masters programmes in: Archaeology for Screen Media, Garden History, Historical Archaeology, Landscape Archaeology, Maritime Archaeology, Mediterranean Archaeology and Social Anthropology. These specialist programmes are also suitable as conversion courses.

Research focuses on 5 main themes: European Prehistory, Materiality, Human Origins, Mediterranean Archaeology and Social Anthropology.

The Department has close links with archaeologists locally, nationally and internationally: including Athens, Nairobi, Rome, Egypt, St Lucia, Bermuda and Bangkok.
