A number of PhD Studentships are made available each year by Cardiff Business School to outstanding students of any nationality.
The School is seeking exceptional applicants with a first class Honours degree (or equivalent), or a Masters degree with distinction.
Cardiff Business School has a strong commitment to postgraduate research studies and widely recognised expertise across the whole business/management/economics research domain.

UK and EU candidates who are awarded a Departmental Studentship may also be expected to apply for an Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) studentship in 2009/10.
Overseas candidates who are awarded a Departmental Studentship will normally be expected to apply for an Overseas Research Students (ORS) award in 2009/10. - Funding duration:

This list provides information on faculty research interests. Many students adjust their topic to align more closely with the interests of academic faculty. You should consider sending potential supervisors a copy of your Research Proposal before submitting a formal application to the Business School. By entering into a dialogue with potential supervisors and refining your Research Proposal you will considerably improve your application and your prospects of being accepted onto the Programme. - Administrative contact and how to apply:
- Applicants should apply using the standard Cardiff University application form for postgraduate study and indicate clearly the academic school and area of research that is intended. The application form and accompanying forms can be downloaded from the Apply Section of our website at www.cardiff.ac.uk/postgraduate/pgapply
Applicants should indicate clearly on the front page of the application form that they wish to apply for a 2008/9 Studentship. Please also indicate this at Section 5 'Funding'.
Applicants should include with their application, two referees’ reports in sealed envelopes. At least one of the referees should be a university teacher, have a good knowledge of the applicant’s academic ability and achievements, and indicate, where possible, the applicant’s ranking in his/her class.
Applicants should also include copies of transcripts and degree certificates, along with copies of IELTS or TOEFL scores.
Applicants should include in their ‘previous experience’ reference to any research projects undertaken, including at Bachelors/Masters level, and any publications arising from this research.
Applicants should submit a detailed research proposal of no more than 4 pages, setting out the general area of research, the intended contribution to the field of study, an indication of the research method(s) to be followed, and a full bibliography.
