This course is intended for students who wish to acquire graduate-level skills in economic analysis and relevant quantitative techniques. It is designed for students who are embarked on, or intending to embark upon, careers in research agencies, consultancy firms, economic advisory services of governments, banks or international agencies, or as university teachers or researchers.

The course provides a sound training in best practice methods of mainstream economics, combined with the opportunities of studying optional areas in depth and of gradual transition to research.

We offer Overseas MSc Scholarships for the MSc in Economics. Any overseas applicants can apply for a scholarship of £3,000 towards their fees and living expenses. These scholarships will be awarded on a competitive basis and the selection takes into account academic ability and financial need.

Minimum entry criterion is the equivalent of an upper second class degree primarily in economics from a UK university.
Language requirements:
The department's normal English language requirements, specified here, are (a) an IELTS result of 6.5 or (b) a TOEFL result of 600 if paper-based, 250 if CBT and 100 if iBT, or (c) A, B, and C Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English.
