The School of Languages, Cultures, and Religions invites applications for postgraduate research studentships, and intends to make up to 3 awards. In all cases, the studentship covers full EU fees.
The School is a compact, welcoming unit focused on innovation in interdisciplinary cultural studies across Africa, the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, and Japan.

Candidates may apply for support either for a Masters by Research, or for a PhD. Studentships are annually renewable for doctoral students.
Applications are invited in the broad areas of either:
1. Visual Culture, including cinema
2. Colonial and postcolonial studies

The deadline for applications is Friday 1 May 2008. Applications will be assessed by members of the Research Committee of the School.
