Faculty of Health & Social Care

Institution: Open University

With 3 main teaching programmes: Health & Social Care, Social Work and Pre-Registration Nursing, The Faculty of Health & Social Care has a practice-focused curriculum and emphasis on meeting the needs of the health, social work and social care workforce.
Our research aims to influence practice and policy across the life course and demonstrate pedagogical and methodological expertise. Topics reflect work with particular groups of service users and practitioners, eg people with learning difficulties, mental health survivors, older people, children/young people, social workers, community matrons and GPs. Methodological strengths lie in biographical methods, oral history, ethnography, mixed methods, discourse analysis and archival research.
