Department of Computer Science
University of York
The University of York is one of the leading Universities for the study of Computer Science in the UK. The Times Good University Guide 2008 ranks us 7th and The Guardian 3rd. Our research has been awarded the highest grade of 6* from UK Research Assessment Exercise and we offer a suite of Masters programmes that build on our research strengths in software engineering and computing. We boast a welcoming and friendly environment and have a graduate community comprising over 100 students from around the world.
As technology pervades more and more of our life, the impact of poorly designed interfaces is enormous. The MSc In Human-Centred Interactive Technologies aims to give you the skills and knowledge needed to design and evaluate effective, usable and accessible interfaces from websites to mobile phones, including: web design; psychology for interfaces; and user research tools.
The unique emphasis of the MSc in Human-Centred Interactive Technologies is on developing an understanding of users capabilities and requirements, including users with particular requirements (such as older and disabled users, or users in a diversity of cultural settings) and developing a range of techniques to work with these users to produce interactive technologies that best suit their capabilities and requirements.
Graduates completing the programme will be equipped to play leading and professional roles related to the designed and evaluation of interactive technologies in industry, commerce, academia and public service. The MSc in Human-Centred interactive Technologies is also intended to provide a route into a PhD or research in this rapidly expanding field.
