Full PhD Scholarship in Social Work

We are offering a Full PhD scholarship (tuition fees and maintenance at ESRC level for three years) in Social Work. Any area of study is welcomed but we would particularly encourage applications in the following research areas:

Death, dying and bereavement; The social impacts of degenerative conditions; Spirituality; The social and cultural context of HIV/AIDS.

Partial PhD Bursary in Social Sciences

One partial bursary of £3300 per year for three years is available for a student starting in September 2008. It is available for doctoral study in any of the core areas of the Department: Anthropology; Criminology; Gender Studies; Social Policy; Sociology; Social Work.

Applications are particularly welcome in following research areas:

Historical and cultural criminology including radicalization; The sociology of change and transformation; Identities and sexualities; The sociology of health and illness; Gender and migration; Slavery.
