Randall Division of Cell and Molecular Biophysics
King's College London
'I wanted to do a medically related, molecular or structural-biology based PhD in London. The Allergy and Asthma group within the Randall Division of Cell and Molecular Biophysics at King’s perfectly met those pre-requisites, and meant I could study in an ambitious department in central London. Highlights include meeting people from a variety of academic and international backgrounds, plus collaborative prospects with internal and external researchers.
I’ve received extensive IT training through the iGrad scheme. I have two highly supportive supervisors, and the Division’s postgraduate co-ordinator helps monitor progress. The school’s annual Postgraduate Symposium provides opportunities to present your work in a conference-like environment.
On completion, I’d like to stay in academia and get involved with teaching.
The Randall hosts weekly seminars and an annual 3 day “retreat” - a great chance to get to know your colleagues better! I belong to the Thomas Guy Club and take advantage of its swimming pool and bar.'
