Nutritional Sciences Division
Institution: King's College London Our work is concerned with predicting how food intake affects health. In order to do this we need to understand the biological mechanisms by which food constituents are absorbed and metabolized and their physiological role in the body. Our research spans that concerned with molecular basis of human nutrition through to dietary surveys, intervention trials and programmes. There are three major research themes: diet and cardiovascular health, diet and gastrointestinal health and iron and zinc metabolism. These themes bring together multidisciplinary groups of clinicians, molecular biologists, physiologists and nutritionists to address specific research questions. The Division currently has 22 PIs, 34 research staff and 32 doctoral students.
