BCAST focuses on both fundamental and applied research of advanced solidification technologies for metallic materials. The Centre is the birthplace of the family of rheoforming technologies, including the well-known rheo-dicasting process.

BCAST has an international reputation for its research into solidification under forced convection, rheology, understanding of semisolid metals and new alloy development. Our newer developments are based on the understanding of liquid metal.

BCAST is well equipped with a unique collection of metal processing facilities and a range of modern analytical techniques.
