DPhil Research Studentship in IC Engine Research

Applications are invited for a funded DPhil Research Studentship in the Department of Engineering and Design to work on a research project aiming to make IC engines more efficient in a cost-effective way. The project is funded by the Engineering and Physical Science Research Council (EPSRC) and Jaguar Cars Ltd, and will focus on adaptive cylinder pressure reconstruction using neural networks.

This full-time Studentship is open to UK citizens holding either a 1st or a very good 2.i Honours degree, preferably in mechanical, automotive, electrical, or electronic engineering, or computing science, physics or mathematics. Applicants should be interested in IC Engines, dynamics, control, and neural network-based system identification.

Full funding is currently available for two years but this is likely to be extended for a further year. The Studentship includes an annual maintenance stipend of at least £12,940 plus payment of University fees.
