Tracy Ashworth

Lancashire Business School

University of Central Lancashire

Tracy Ashworth: Masters in Business Administration (MBA)

At the age of thirty I made a decision to enrol on a course of study that would support the work that I do within Local Government, and which would provide me with the knowledge, skills and confidence to further my career.

After completing an honours degree in Business at the University of Central Lancashire, I decided to continue my studies to gain an MBA. As I was working full time, UCLan offered me the flexibility to study part-time and at a convenient time for me. The central location in Lancashire enabled me to attend lectures on a regular basis, and gave me access to the numerous facilities.

During my time at the University I received excellent advice and support from the academic staff and this encouraged learning and built confidence.

I enjoyed the opportunity to study with professionals from both the private and public sector and benefited from their knowledge and experience. I’ve also gained good friends along the way and still keep in contact with several of them.

The timescales involved in completing any course of study may sometimes seem like an eternity. However, time passes quickly and the benefits of improved knowledge and skills, personal achievement and increased confidence greatly surpass the time committed. My qualifications have provided me with a greater choice of jobs, I have been promoted several times throughout the course of my studies, and I have significantly increased my earnings and my potential to earn.
