Biosurfaces

CIC biomaGUNE is a non-profit research organization created to promote scientific research and technological innovation at the highest levels in the Basque Country.

Biosurfaces Department focuses on designing, building, and understanding biofunctional interfaces and applying them towards investigating relevant biological and biomaterial problems. Present knowledge of structure and function of biomolecules combined with the ability to immobilize them onto surfaces while retaining their functionality has opened a new area of research on biomimetic materials, enabling applications ranging from biosensors to integrated medical nanosystems to perform complex repair actions at the cellular level.
