A four year PhD studentship is available to work in the Iron Metabolism Group within the Nutritional Sciences Division at Kings College London. The studentship will be available from October 2008.
The project will be aimed at investigating the role of several newly identified proteins in iron metabolism. The project will involve molecular and cell biology techniques as well as gene and protein expression analysis in mice with altered iron metabolism. The student will receive training in techniques of molecular cell biology, animal procedures, radioactive methods, iron assays as well as cell culture techniques.
The PhD will be supervised by Prof AT McKie and Dr RJ Simpson. The Iron Metabolism Group at Kings is a well funded group consisting of 6 permanent members of staff, plus research staff and PhD students, and will provide a stimulating environment.
Applications are welcome from graduates, with either a 1st Class or 2.i honours degree (or equivalent) in a biomedical or related science subject. The stipend will be at the usual research council rate.
