The trust was set up in 1630 to assist apprenticing and if this cannot be usefully applied:

Assist beneficiaries preparing for, entering upon, or engaged in any profession, trade, occupation or service by providing them with outfits, payment of fees, travelling or maintenance expenses, or by such other means for their advancement in life.

2. In awarding to beneficiaries exhibitions tenable at any training college for teachers, university or other institution approved by trustees.
