Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council
BBSRC Award schemes are for 3-year PhD studentships of various types:
Quota Research Studentships (including CASE)
BBSRC allocates some 340 research studentships in the form of "quotas" to departments, institutes or any significant cognate group within an eligible institution which contributes to the BBSRC mission. The allocation is made on the advice of the Council's Studentships and Fellowships panel. These studentships can be jointly supervised with an industrial company as CASE (Co-operative Awards in Science and Engineering) studentships.
Strategic Research Studentships
Some 200 Studentships are allocated each year to help achieve priority objectives within the BBSRC.
Industrial CASE Partnership Awards
75 BBSRC Industrial CASE Partnership Awards have been allocated to companies across 2003 to 2005
