Newby Trust Education Grants

Newby Trust

Subjects:

The Trust's general policy is to make grants available to those taking second degrees including to students from abroad with a proven UK educational record whose circumstances have been affected by events beyond their control (but not including students whose funds have been cut off by their own governments). Grants are not hardship funds, but recognition of merit in relation to need.

Individuals may apply provided a first degree from a UK educational establishment has been achieved. If the first degree is from an overseas educational establishment students must have already commenced their postgraduate course in the UK.

Funds are not provided for:
1. CPE Law Exam
2. PHD's prior to commencement: PHD students will only be considered once studies/research has commenced.
3. Courses outside the UK

Applications will only be accepted for the final two years of study for postgraduate medical or veterinary degrees.

Confirmation that a student has raised sufficient funds to embark upon and continue their studies is requested prior to any grant being paid.

For the financial year 2009/10 (6 April - 5 April) the Directors have chosen the special category of Project's and/or training that encourage artisan skills e.g. sculpture, printing, thatching, weaving etc.

From the financial year 2009/10 grants will be provided only to those organisations which have been invited to apply.

The selected institutions are currently :
