Subjects:

Applicants for grants must be:-
• over the age of 24 on 1st October of the proposed year of study
• graduates with a first or upper second class honours degree (or its equivalent), or final year under-graduate students proposing to undertake post-graduate studies and who are expected to achieve a 1st class or 2.1 degree
• studying for a degree in medicine, dentistry or veterinary science, or for a higher degree or equivalent academic qualification in any subject, at a University in the United Kingdom
• already resident in the UK at the time of application

Awards are competitive and made on the basis of academic merit and financial need. All grants are awarded for a full year of academic study and for one year only. Applicants for full time postgraduate degree courses may normally be supported up to a maximum of three years but new applications have to be submitted each year.

Please note that the following will not qualify for grants : students awarded major grants (i.e. intended to cover full fees and subsistence) from any source, students who have already been supported by the Trust for a postgraduate degree in another field, full-time PhD students beyond a third year of study, electives, diplomas, PGCE courses, professional training such as Law Society examinations and PLAB tests.
