Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences

Lancaster’s Arts and Social Sciences Faculty is one of the leading faculties of its kind in the UK, housing many internationally renowned scholars and research centres. Our distinctive emphasis on interdisciplinarity is reflected our Master’s and PhD level programmes, which enable students to study a subject at an advanced level and access expert teaching and research support and training across the Faculty. All departments offer full- and part-time Master’s programmes and PhD level supervision. As well as the traditional UK-style PhD, several offer professional doctorates (a structured programme of coursework and assessment culminating in a thesis). Creative Writing and Contemporary Arts also offer practice-based research.
