Strathclyde Business School

The University of Strathclyde is now Scotland’s third largest university, and one of the largest in the UK, with a world-wide reputation for its teaching and research. We comprise five faculties – Arts and Social Studies, Business, Education, Engineering and Science – and have a total student population of around 14,000.

Our University’s mission for over 200 years has been to be ‘the place of useful learning’; an ethos which still drives the business school and distinguishes us from our competitors.

Founded in 1948, Strathclyde Business School (SBS) is an enterprising, pioneering institution of global standing. We engage business minds, and pursue impact on the stakeholders we serve.

It is one of the largest business schools of its kind in Europe, with around 200 academic staff and more than 3000 full-time students (undergraduate and postgraduate). The subject departments and specialist units collaborate to provide a dynamic, fully-rounded and varied programme of specialist and cross-disciplinary postgraduate courses.

Internationally Recognised
The business school is triple accredited by the three international accrediting bodies, AMBA, EQUIS and AACSB – and it was one of the first to gain this accolade. EQUIS and AACSB assess the business school as a whole while AMBA accredits the MBA programmes. With recent accreditation from all three bodies for the maximum five year period, Strathclyde is delighted to continue to be one of the small number, out of thousands of business schools around the world, to be triple accredited.

In addition to triple accreditation, Strathclyde Business School is Europe’s first university faculty to be awarded a licence to operate an MBA programme in the United Arab Emirates.

Our MBA and Masters programmes are consistently ranked among the best in the world and we continue to introduce innovative business programmes to suit the demands of an evolving business world and we’ve extended out academic reach with centres in Europe, Asia and the Gulf.

Our Research
In addition to our international accreditation, Strathclyde has a reputation for research excellence. It has been rated in the top 10 business schools in the UK for its research - and first in Scotland - in the Research Excellence Framework (REF) which measures the quality and breadth of research (December 2014). The REF indicated that the business school’s research was particularly strong in terms of Impact, a measure of how its research impacts on practise in business.

We have specialist MSc programmes in the following subject areas:
Accounting & Finance
Management Science
