This MA programme will give you the opportunity to explore how the arts and culture can be used to address local, national, and global development challenges. It examines the impact of arts and culture in various contexts across the Global North and Global South, with particular attention paid to initiatives with local communities, the development of cultural districts, innovations in urban environments and cutting-edge approaches to creative enterprise. The course is taught in close dialogue with prevailing Development discourses, specifically the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals.
You will investigate the strategy models and creative potential in using arts and culture within development contexts, and explore how they can be used to further social and environmental justice as well as contribute to economic growth. You will develop your vocational skills and build your capacity to contribute to development projects around the world.
