For those currently employed in criminal justice professions, the degree is designed to support career advancement through dedicated units such as ‘Policy Making in the Criminal Justice System’.

The degree also prepares you for future postgraduate research by incorporating theoretical and methodological skills and the production of a final dissertation piece, should you wish to proceed to a PhD.

During the course you’ll learn about the collaborative practices, within Criminal Justice systems, and the role criminological theory and methods can play to address contemporary challenges. The course will provide invaluable insight into the UK's Criminal Justice System and provide global and contemporary comparisons. Units such as ‘Victimisation and Sexual Violence’ consider the role of courts in the treatment of victims and witnesses; or ‘Hate Crime and Extremism’ reflect on global international challenges to prejudice and discrimination in societies.

You will critically explore your developing professional identity across a range of topics related to changes in law, criminal justice and social policy which will influence your work with individuals from various backgrounds, and develop professional skills to support your career progression, providing you with the capacity to work effectively, respectfully and resiliently within a professional criminal justice environment.
