Masters Degree Description

This degree is delivered at our Confetti London Campus in Whitechapel.

If you are interested in building upon your existing knowledge, pushing boundaries, developing new ideas and ways of working, then an MSc will help you make a mark in this exciting and incredibly employable field.

What you’ll study

On this masters degree you will be challenged to innovate across a range of disciplines within music production such as creative recording, mixing and commercial composition, developing and contributing to contemporary practices, and working towards shaping the future of a fast changing, competitive and highly creative discipline. You will develop a personalised journey in specific areas of interest culminating in you leaving with a focused commercial strategy for a sustainable career.

The key aim is to cultivate high quality, entrepreneurially adept graduates to work in the Music Production industries from a portfolio career grass roots level to more structured established company environments. Students will be well placed for the real world of work in this exciting field.

Entry Requirements

  • A minimum of a 2:2 honours degree, or an appropriate equivalent, i.e. a professional qualification, from a recognised British or overseas institution, in a related subject., such as Technical Theatre, Technical Events, Live Sound, Event Production, BSc Audio and/or Sound related, any degree with 'Lights' or 'Live Broadcast' in the title
  • If you do not hold a relevant degree, you should include a link to related industry assets you have been involved in making: eg recordings or gigs, lighting designs, video mapping documentation and links to commercial work if available. Write a short statement on the techniques you used to create them.
  • Non-standard applicants with at least three years' industry experience are also welcome to apply.
  • Applicants who do not fully satisfy the general criteria will be considered if they are able to demonstrate that they are capable of successfully undertaking and completing the programme at the required standard. Eligibility may be determined by means of an interview for some applicants.
  • Applicants who have been taught and assessed in languages other than English should have an English language equivalent to IELTS 6.5.

Personal statement:

You should include in your personal statement why you want to study this course and a summary of your experience of live sound, lighting design and/or operation, live video broadcast. Please also detail any experience of organising people or relevant projects.

Interview:

You'll be invited to an informal interview after you submit your application, to determine your project ideas, your fit with the course, and to discuss your aspirations.

Programme Funding

You might be able to get a scholarship to help fund your studies. We award scholarships to those students who can demonstrate excellent achievement, passion and dedication to their studies.

Student Destinations

Graduates will be equipped to take up roles working as a studio owner, recording engineer, producer, songwriter, mixing engineer, mastering engineer, music for media composer, artist, working for a record label/publisher.
