Study the intricacies of commercial law and apply it to a range of global commerce contexts, exploring how the trade laws apply internationally on this LLM.

International commercial law comprises the rules, conventions, and agreements governing global trade, commerce, and business transactions.

On this LLM, we'll explore topics such as international commerce (including transnational sale of goods), lex mercatoria, shipping law, international commercial contracts and terms, economic security, economic sanctions, and money laundering.

As part of this course, you'll also:

  • Study a programme underpinned by relevant research, engaging you academically, and building your confidence, skills, and expertise
  • Craft your specialist knowledge and critical perspective on international law relating to commercial activities within a global economy
  • Reflect on the future of international commerce and how the sector is evolving
  • Synthesise and apply concepts as you solve problems relating to the legal regulation of international commercial transactions
  • Explore the theoretical foundations of modern international commerce law, such as contemporary global commercial customs and practices (lex mercatoria)
  • Become proficient in self-direction, originality, and autonomy as you produce a relevant piece of master's-level independent legal research

Entry Requirements

Applicants should either have at least a second class honours degree or have equivalent experience or training, normally from within the work environment.
