Gain specialist child nursing skills and NMC registration in an additional field of practice while developing as a manager and leader with our one-year Postgraduate Diploma.
On this NMC-validated course, you'll learn how to assess and care for children and young people who are acutely unwell and/or have complex needs. You'll also consider how public health applies to children, young people, and their families, and prepare for leadership and management roles in delivering quality healthcare.
You'll learn in our state-of-the-art nursing skills labs, as well as through hands-on placements, and graduate ready to practice as a confident and experienced registered children's nurse.
A first degree in nursing with honours, at a minimum final classification of Lower Second (2:2) or equivalent and current NMC registration as a first level nurse (Nurses part of the register Sub part 1) without restrictions on your practice.
Evidence of a minimum of 1512.5 hours of theory, for APL of theory hours required for NMC award. This must be capable of being mapped to the NMC (2018) Standards of Proficiency for Registered Nurses and course outcomes. Additional bridging work may be required where standards are not met.

To receive an offer of a place on this course you must be successful at interview.
Applicants for whom English is not their first language and who are unable to provide evidence of being taught and examined through the medium of English are required to demonstrate proficiency in the English language. This can be via an Occupational English Test with a grade of C+ in writing and B in the reading, listening and speaking sections or an English Language Testing System (IELTS) with an overall score of 7 and at least a 6.5 in the writing section and 7 in the reading, listening and speaking sections.
An Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and Satisfactory Occupational Health check.
Our Postgraduate Diploma is approved by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) in the UK.
This means you’ll be eligible to register in an additional field of practice when you graduate – and start work as an children's nurse.
