Apply psychological knowledge and social insight to facilitate meaningful improvements in health and wellbeing at both community and individual levels.
During this interdisciplinary course, you’ll explore the foundations of health and wellbeing from a community psychology perspective.
You’ll look beyond the individual level, to focus on how social, cultural, economic and environmental factors shape outcomes and combine to affect people’s quality of life. You will become familiar with aligning practice to the principles of the United Nations Human Rights Framework and Sustainable Development Goals.
This will allow you to critically reflect on the role of these factors as determinants of health and become equipped to deliver effective, ethical, and sustainable initiatives across diverse global and cultural settings.
You should have a bachelor’s honours degree or international equivalent, typically a high 2:2 or above.
To apply for this course, you should have an undergraduate degree in a social sciences or humanities subject. We will also take contextual information and evidence of a strong commitment to health and wellbeing into account for less typical undergraduate degree subjects.
In your application, you will need to provide a maximum 500-word personal statement which should:
(a) outline why you feel you are a suitable applicant for the course, and how the course may fit into your future goals.
(b) demonstrate a clear motivation to study health and wellbeing from a broad, interdisciplinary ethical perspective.
We may make an offer based on a lower grade if you can provide evidence of your suitability for the degree.
