As a teacher of art and design, you’ll be responsible for uncovering the creative spark in each and every student you teach. You’ll open young people’s eyes to endless creative possibilities and show them new means by which they can express themselves. Overall, you’ll be responsible for nurturing talent in the creatives of tomorrow.

Degree requirements
An ordinary degree, or international equivalent.
Degree must include:
at least 80 SCQF credits in fine art and/or design (a maximum of 20 SCQF credits may come from photography). Candidates must provide evidence of high quality observation and analytical drawing skills in their portfolio and interview:

Digital art/design
Photography
Environmental art
practical studio experience as a core part of undergraduate degree
a breadth and depth in art and design practice rather than a purely theoretical, philosophical, or historical focus on fine art or design
ability to use art and design technology
Maths & English
Higher (SCQF Level 6) English Grade C or above.
National 5 (SCQF Level 5) Mathematics Grade C or above.
Maths and English qualifications can be in progress at the time of application.

A degree in education will equip you for a range of careers working with children and young people.
