Masters Degree Description

This degree is the ideal sports and exercise science route for students who aspire to work with elite athletes. Learn how to plan and deliver training programmes, monitor progress and deliver feedback to coaches. Being a fully recognised profession in elite sport, almost all professional clubs now employ a minimum of one strength and conditioning coach. This course will provide you with the knowledge and skills to work with athletes in any sport and of any age.

 

Entry Requirements

  • Students will require an 2:2 honours degree or above in a sport or exercise related subject.
  • Alternatively, prospective students who have completed a non-related degree but have extensive experience in the field will be considered.

Student Destinations

As you will arrive with relevant workplace experience that the programme builds on, you would be expected to obtain Certified IOSH Membership (or equivalent) immediately or to consolidate Chartered or Chartered Fellow Membership. This will enable you to apply for roles at mid to senior levels in organisations.

Students often move into global roles expanding on their previous roles that include energy generation, construction, manufacturing and railway sectors. We have some students from HS2 with some from the public service sector – most students are already entering with Level 6 knowledge and are Certified Members of IOSH.

Some students will choose to study for doctoral level award or move into a research-based organisation.
