The School of Sociology and Social Policy is a vibrant and diverse centre for social science learning. Our outstanding postgraduate teaching is underpinned by our world-leading research, which has a tangible impact on policy decisions. The course is designed to develop an advanced critical understanding of crime in its social context, this programme draws on insights across the humanities and social sciences.

This course offers you the opportunity to study criminology in a social scientific environment with teaching by experts in criminology, sociology, social work and social and public policy.

You will gain practical experience with a local crime or criminal justice organisation (such as the police or a member agency of a local crime and drugs partnership), offering you the opportunity to apply and reflect on what you have learned in the classroom. You will also be able to choose from a range of optional modules in criminology and related fields.

The MA is 1 year full-time or 2 years part-time. The PGDip version of the cost is studied over 9 months full-time or 18 months part-time.
