Description

Why Swansea University?

100% of publications are world-leading and internationally excellent- Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2021

Prepare to delve into diverse realms of mathematics, exploring elements that range from the mathematical aspects of computing to statistical theories. Our broad spectrum of research interests includes Algebra and Topology, Stochastic Analysis, Mathematics Education, Band Analysis, and Nonlinear Partial Differential Equations.

As you complete your journey with us, you’ll emerge as a well-versed mathematician, equipped with proven skills to autonomously execute significant projects. This proficiency sets you apart in the ever-evolving and competitive job market.

High Quality Teaching

Our staff are experts in their areas of mathematics with the majority being recognised by the Higher Education Academy with a Fellowship or Senior Fellowship. You will be taught academics such as Dr Gibin Powathil, whose research utilises mathematics to understand the underlying complexity of various biological and biomedical problems in medicine and in particular, cancer. Currently, Gibin is working on developing multiscale models of cancer growth and treatment protocols to study various optimum treatment strategies; eventually to devise much needed predictive patient specific multimodality treatment regimes.

Exceptional Facilities

Mathematics at Swansea is expanding and housed in the state of the art £32.5m Computational Foundry building, providing up-to-date and high-quality teaching and research facilities, as well as networking and inspiration space. It’s a place where industry partners can collaborate with us, test new ideas and allow our students and researchers to work on real-world problems.
