MNurse (Adult) – a shorter route to qualification with non-repayable grants available to eligible home students

This MNurse (Adult) course is designed to promote the development of high levels of knowledge, skills and professionalism.

The course is two years in length and will lead to a master degree in Adult Nursing. It is a pre-registration course, aimed at graduates, so as well as gaining a masters degree, you’ll also be eligible to register with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) to become a Registered Nurse (Adult).

This is an intense course which will require commitment and dedication to succeed. The course meets Nursing and Midwifery Standards and will be delivered 50/50 between theory and clinical practice. It has been developed with a blended learning curriculum which will enable you to study at home as well as on campus and on placement.

Facilities

The University of Sunderland offers modern and well-equipped facilities at our Sciences Complex. Each module has a practice placement element so 50% of the course is taught in a clinical setting, while the 50% theory takes place in the University and online.

Adult nursing is a rewarding and challenging career where you have a real chance to make a difference to people’s lives. The completion of this MNurse course will lead to registration as an adult nurse. There are opportunities to enter into industries such as the NHS, the military, private and voluntary organisations and primary care.

Entry requirements

This course is open to anyone who holds a health-related degree at 2:2 or above and registrants from another field of nursing. Applicants will have to demonstrate a minimum of 600 hours of theory (gained from your first degree) and 600 hours of healthcare experience in order to APL (Accreditation of Prior Learning)/RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning) out of the necessary hours for the course.

Natalie Crosby graduated from BSc (Hons) Health and Social Care in 2014 and worked in multiple care-related jobs, working her way up the ladder to more senior positions, but felt she wasn’t exactly where she wanted to be. Fees and finance

The annual fee for this course is:

• £9,250 if you are from the UK/Ireland/EU settled/pre-settled

We are currently unable to accept applications from international applicants.

A non-repayable grant of £5,000 and extra payments worth up to £3,000 is available to eligible home students for each year of study.
