Our researchers explore how and why people learn at every stage of life, from babies to the elderly. They conduct research into nurseries, schools, colleges, and universities, but also in multiple informal contexts: in the home, at work, in nature, in the community, in the arts, leisure, volunteering and activism.

We have strong research links and networks across the world and a wide range of externally funded national and international research projects. Our four areas of research excellence include; children and families, learning outside of formal education, inclusion and education policy.

Funding Options

Here at the University of Plymouth, we understand that funding may be a big part of your decision to go forward with Postgraduate Study. If you studied your undergraduate degree at Plymouth, you may be eligible for a fee discount if you complete your postgraduate studies here as well.

  • 20% discount on tuition fees for home students
  • £2,000 discount on tuition fees for international students

We also offer several scholarships for international students who wish to study postgraduate taught (PGT) degree programmes.
