Applications are invited for a Research Training Fellowship, to be undertaken in the UK to further the training of a midwifery graduate embarking upon a research project or research career. Wellbeing of Women in association with the Royal College of Midwives is inviting applications for training in clinical relevant research including explanatory and feasibility studies in at least one of the following areas:
1. Physiological, psychosocial and cultural aspects of pregnancy, birth, parenthood and the newborn
2. Public health and the role of the midwife
3. The education, training and deployment of midwives

Fellowships are awarded for three years and cover the cost of university fees, basic living costs and research expenses. Registration fees for a higher degree and reasonable research expenses should be specified in the application form.

Research Training Fellows will be expected to enroll for a higher degree (PhD). A Fellowship will only be awarded to an applicant who has been accepted for a place in a department with established expertise in the specified field and who meets the following eligibility criteria:
•Registered midwife within the UK who has notified their intention to practice with the NMC
•Have a minimum of three years full time or equivalent post-graduate experience working in a clinical/educational setting since registering as a midwife
•Hold a primary degree in a relevant subject (minimum 2:1 or equivalent)
•Be a full midwife member of the Royal College of Midwives
•Candidates must also provide evidence of previous interest and a training component in research methodology.

Both the training and research project must be capable of being brought to a conclusion within the duration of the award.
