Joining UCA for your creative PhD will give you an unparalleled opportunity to delve into an area of research that is relevant to your ambitions and aspirations. You’ll be part of our imaginative, supportive research community at our UCA Doctoral College, where you’ll have a regular base to design your own studies, explore your chosen field, make academic connections and develop unique and impressive doctoral work.

UCA is home to a vibrant, collaborative research community, including our many recognised research centres – the Craft Study Centre, Animation Research Centre, Centre for Sustainable Design, and the International Textile Research Centre to name a few.

Your study could focus on any of our creative disciplines. We welcome applicants from all disciplinary backgrounds, including the humanities and social sciences, and offer PhDs by thesis as well as by practice.

Scholarships and funding opportunities

We are delighted to offer several scholarships this year, including full scholarships, fee waivers, open scholarships, and a collaborative award. Applications submitted before 10 April 2024 will be considered for the studentships and fee waivers.
